IBM Update Connector TM August 9, 2004 Version 6.10 ====================================================================== Description ------------- IBM Update Connector (UC) is a software program that downloads data packages, other software programs, and software packages from an IBM server over the Internet without requiring specific user knowledge of where the package is located or whether the package is needed by the customer machine. You only need to start Update Connector on your machine to be connected to the Update Connector database on IBM's Universal Content Server (UCS). Once connected, Update Connector automatically determines whether your system needs available packages and, if so, it downloads and installs them at your option. Update Connector automatically recognizes machine types and models as well as software versions and other criteria when figuring which packages to download. Before, getting packages for your system was complicated and difficult. IBM Update Connector makes it easier. Here is what IBM Update Connector can do for you: - Helps connect you to the Internet. - Generates information about your system. - Analyzes your system to select only packages which are appropriate for and needed by your system. - Allows you to select which packages you want to download and/or install. - Gets the packages from the IBM Support Center servers. - Helps you view, download, install, and uninstall packages on your system. - Allows you to manage your own system (Self-Managed Mode) or manage your own system as well as other systems on your LAN (SMB LAN Mode).
