IBM USB Serial / Parallel Adapter driver for Microsoft Windows 98SE, Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), or Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Installation requirements: Be sure that your computer has the following requirements before installing the IBM USB Serial Parallel Adapter: An available USB port Note: Serial mouse supported under Windows 2000 only. Driver installation: To install the IBM USB Serial Parallel Adapter for the first time, perform the following steps: 1. Turn on the computer and make sure the USB port is enabled and working properly. 2. Run "setup.exe" 3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. 4. Plug the USB cable into the USB port and Windows will detect the IBM USB Serial Parallel Adapter. Setting up the serial device To connect the serial device, perform the following steps: 1. Plug the serial device into the serial port of the IBM USB Serial Parallel Adapter. 2. Plug the USB cable of the IBM USB Serial Parallel Adapter into the USB port on your computer. 3. Configure your serial port by going to the properties of your serial device and ensure that the port is set to "USB Serial Port". Each serial device is setup differently. Setting up the printer device To connect the printer device, perform the following steps: 1. Turn off the printer and plug the printer device into the printer port of the IBM USB Serial Parallel Adapter. 2. Turn on your printer. 3. Turn on your computer and plug the USB cable of the IBM USB Serial Parallel Adapter into the USB port on your computer. 4. If you have previously installed a printer device, click Start-->Setting --> Printers. If the printer is new, go to Step 7. 5. Right-click the default printer and then click Properties. 6. In the properties window click the Details tab; then change the printer port to USB to Parallel Port. 7. If you do not have a printer installed, click Start-->Settings-->Printers -->Add Printer to open the Add Printer Wizard window. 8. Follow the on-screen instructions. 9. When prompted for the port that the printer will use, click USB to Parallel Port. 10. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. 11. Run Print Test Page to test printer connection. Uninstalling the device driver You can uninstall the IBM USB Serial Parallel Adapter device driver by double-clicking the Uninstall.exe file. Note: When reinstalling the device driver, click setup.exe before attaching the USB adapter.
