Utility to set manufacturer and product in system BIOS version 1 README This package created a bootable diskette which will properly set the manufacturer and product fields in system BIOS for IBM Aptiva 6864-1GZ systems. This will allow the 6864-1GZ system to use the Recovery CD and Software Selections CD after the system board has been replaced. A blank 1.44MB 3.5-inch diskette will be needed. Print this file so that you can refer to it during the installation. This update package is intended for IBM Aptiva 6864-1GZ systems. Downloading the update ---------------------- 1. Click the file link to download the file from the Web page. 2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save the downloaded file. Extracting the update --------------------- 1. Click Start, highlight Find, then click Files and folders. 2. Insert a blank 1.44MB floppy diskette into the diskette drive. 3. Type 6864dmi.exe in the search box, then click Find Now. This will locate the 6864dmi.exe file you just downloaded. 4. Double-click the icon for 6864dmi.exe. The necessary files will be extracted to the diskette. Installing the update --------------------- 1. Close all open applications. 2. Leave the diskette in the A: drive, and shut down and restart the computer to start the update. 3. When the update is complete remove the diskette and restart the system.
