PJJT29A Flash BIOS update for Aptiva 2178 and 2198 systems README This package performs a flash update of the BIOS on Aptiva 2178 and 2198 systems. NOTE: BIOS is programming that controls low-level hardware operations internal to your system. The BIOS is stored on a chip on your planar board. Your BIOS uses flash ROM's, which can be updated through a program on a flash diskette so that you do not have to replace the BIOS chip to update the BIOS. This update package is intended for IBM Aptiva machine types 2178-xxx and 2198-xxx. Downloading the update ---------------------- 1. Click the file link to download the file from the Web page. 2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save the downloaded file. Extracting the update --------------------- 1. Click Start -> Find -> Files and folders. 2. Insert a blank 1.44MB floppy diskette into the diskette drive. 3. Type pjjt29a.exe in the search box, then click Find Now. This will locate the pjjt29a.exe file you just downloaded. 4. Double-click the icon for pjjt29a.exe. The necessary files will be extracted to the diskette. 5. Close all open applications. 6. Leaving the diskette inserted in the diskette drive, Shutdown and restart your computer. 7. Follow the onscreen prompts to install the BIOS update. 8. When prompted, remove the diskette from the diskette drive, and restart the computer. The update is now complete.
