Patch for "DOS/16M ERROR [36] DOS 16M WINDOWS DRIVERS WAS NEVER LOADED" README This file will create a bootable diskette which should be executed if the "DOS/16M ERROR [36] DOS 16M WINDOWS DRIVERS WAS NEVER LOADED" error message appears on an Aptiva 2174-88F system. This diskette makes a backup of the autoexec.bat to autoexec.ndx and moves the au3dos.com to the bottom of the autoexec.bat. Affected configurations ----------------------- Aptiva 2171-88F systems. Downloading the update ---------------------- 1. Click the file link to download the file from the Web page. 2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save the downloaded file. Extracting the update --------------------- 1. Click Start -> Find -> Files and folders. 2. Insert a blank 1.44MB floppy diskette into the diskette drive. 3. Type vortxfix.exe in the search box, then click Find Now. This will locate the vortxfix.exe file you just downloaded. 4. Double-click the icon for vortxfix.exe. 5. Follow the onscreen prompts. The necessary files will be extracted to the diskette. Installing the update --------------------- 1. Close all open applications. 2. Leaving the diskette inserted in the diskette drive, Shutdown and restart your computer. 3. When prompted, remove the diskette from the diskette drive, and restart the computer.
