NS207A51.TXT The NS207A51.EXE file builds a bootable DOS2000 diskette image file which includes a utility application and the latest firmware update. A readme on the update procedure is included. Items addressed From version 7.30 to version 7A51 include the following. 1. Drive reports 04/80/85 error during ramp down at BOT during Rewind FCR709 The drive very intermittently reported a ramp down error 04/80/85, while performing a Rewind operation. The drive was prematurely checking tape speed during breaking from high-speed rewind operations. During breaking the drive now commands a slower tape speed, then delays prior to checking tape speed. 2. Drive reports wrong Media Density code with no tape present in drive FCR710 The drive would report a Media Density code of 45hex without a tape in the drive. The drive now correctly reports 47hex. 3. Drive occasionally fails WHQL HCT Test FCR711 The drive did not disconnect during Space Reverse 1 Block. Occasionally this operation would take longer that 11 seconds at which time the HCT test would timeout and send a SCSI bus RESET indicating test failure. The drive now disconnects during Space Reverse. 4. Drive reports Medium error after locate to Partition 1 The following test sequence produced a medium error: erase tape, write 0 filemarks, write 1 filemark, write 1 block, locate to block 0 of partition 1. The drive now passes this sequence. This problem was not seen with Application software. 5. Drive now sleeps when idle FCR719 The drive now executes a halt instruction when there is no host SCSI activity. The drive wakes up when there is host SCSI activity or every 8 milliseconds from a watch dog timer. This prevents the drive from repetitiously executing the same CPU instructions from the same small number of EEPROM locations when the drive is idle. According to the EEPROM vendor, this can prevent EEPROM cell corruption in harsh, noisy supply voltage environments. 6. Drive Support for TapeAlert FCR658 The drive now supports TapeAlert.
