This update is to be used only when installing Crystal Audio driver version 08 on a 6588 or 6888 system running Windows 95 Attached is a file that should make updating the Crystal audio driver version 08 a little easier to install. 1) Obtain the latest Crystal Audio Driver from the IBM BBS and the file update.bat. Copy the file update.bat to the driver disk to aid in the ease of installation of the new Crystal Driver. 2) Power system off and back on. When the text "Loading Windows 95" is displayed in the left corner of the display press PF8. Select option #3 and boot to safe mode. 3) In safe mode place the new Crystal Driver Disk with the file update.bat into the A drive. Run A:\update.bat. Note: After starting the file update.bat the customer should see a dos warning; If you run an MS-DOS program in safe mode, you risk corrupting the video display or experiencing other Anomalies. Do you want to run the program anyway? yes no The customer should click yes to this warning. Update.bat will copy the necessary Crystal Audio Files to the Windows/Options/Cabs directory and delete the old INF files. Update.bat will also execute the installation of the Crystal Audio Disk. The customer when prompted will have to start the installation of the driver by clicking Install Driver when prompted. After the installation is complete when prompted click the option to restart the system and remove the disk from the A drive. 4) During the reboot process Windows 95 will prompt the user for the driver disk once more, pop the Crystal Driver disk back in the A drive for this process.
