What This Packages Does ----------------------- This package provides the CDC Modem driver for Windows 2000. The Modem driver enables or updates the Modem function of ThinkPad AMR Modem (CDC) of the following ThinkPad computers: - ThinkPad R32 (except Ethernet Wireless integrated model *1) *1 If your ThinkPad R32 is the Ethernet Wireless integrated model, Use "ThinkPad R32 AMR Modem(Wireless LAN Combo)driver for Windows 2000" instead of this package. To determine if you should update the Modem driver, refer to the Summary of Changes section. To update the modem driver, refer to the Installation instructions section. Released Versions ----------------- Version 2.1.7 Initial release. Version 2.1.20 A problem fix. Version 2.1.20a A problem fix. NOTE: There is no functional change in the driver itself from V2.1.20. If version V2.1.20 is already installed, and no problems exists, you do not need to install this release. See the Summary of Changes for details. Installation instructions ------------------------- - Note: To determine if you should update the Modem drive, refer to the Summary of Changes section. If the audio driver has not been installed on the system, install the audio driver prior to the modem driver. MANUAL INSTALL: 1. Start Windows 2000 and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start and then click Run. 4. Specify C:\DRIVERS\W2K\MODEM\SETUP.EXE and click OK. 5. Follow the instructions. 6. Restart the system for the driver to be effective. UNATTENDED INSTALLATION This is for system administrators' use only. 1. Start Windows. 2. Logon with administrative privileges. 3. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive. 4. Click Start, then click Run. 5. Type C:\DRIVERS\W2K\MODEM\SETUP.EXE -S, and click OK. MANUAL UNINSTALL: 1. Start Windows 2000 and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon. 4. Select Agere Systems AC'97 Modem. 5. Click Change/Remove. 6. Click Yes in the confirmation window. 7. When asked to restart the system, click Yes. NOTE: If you do not remove the modem hardware, then Windows will detect the modem again on the next boot. HOW TO DETERMINE WHAT VERSION IS INSTALLED: ------------------------------------------- 1. Start Windows 2000 2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 3. Double-Click Phone and Modem Options icon. 4. Click Modems tab. 5. Select Agere Systems AC'97 Modem then click Properties button. 6. Select Diagnostics tab and click Query Modem button. 7. Check Command | Response window to check the result of ATI3. The version of the driver installed is displayed. NOTE : This version information does not show minor version. For example, the version 2.1.20a shows version 2.1.20.
