MANUAL INSTALL: 1. Start Windows. 2. Logon with administrative privileges if you are using Windows NT4.0/2000/XP. 3. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. The default location is C:\Drivers\WIN\SWMDMCNT 4. Click Start. 5. Click Run. 6 Specify HSFSETUP.EXE with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 3, and click OK. 7. In the Device Driver Installation Wizard window, click OK. 8. The device driver will be installed automatically. If the message, "Digital Signature Not Found" appears, click the OK button to continue installing. 9. The NetWaiting program installation starts automatically. 9-1 In the "Welcome to..." window, click Next. 9-2 In the "License Agreement" window, read the contents carefully and click Yes. 9-3 In the "Choose Destination Location" window, click Next. Note: If you need to change the destination, you can change it. 9-4 In the "Select Program Folder" window, click Next. Note: If you need to change the folder, you can change it. 9-5 When finished installation, click Finish button. 10. Logon with administrative privileges if you are using Windows NT4.0/2000/XP. 3. Open Control Panel. On Windows 98/98SE/NT4.0/2000, click Start, select Settings, click Control Panel. On Windows XP, click Start, and select Control Panel. 4. In the Control Panel window, double-click Add/Remove Programs. 5. Select "IBM Integrated 56K Modem". 6. Click the Add/Remove button on Windows 98/98SE/NT4.0, or click Change/Remove on Windows 2000/XP. 7. In the Device driver uninstallation wizard window, click OK. 8. Device Driver will be uninstalled automatically. 9. Uninstallation of the NetWaiting software will start automatically. 9-1 In the "Welcome" window, select Remove and click Next. 9-2 In the "Confirm Uninstall" window, click OK. NetWaiting will be uninstalled. 10. Uninstallation of the Digital Line Detect software will start automatically. 10-1 In the "Welcome" window, select Remove and click Next. 10-2 In the "Confirm Uninstall" window, click OK. 10-3 The Digital Line Detect software will be uninstalled. 11. When the driver uninstallation result is shown, click OK to finish installation. 12. If needed, restart the system. UNATTENDED INSTALL: This is for system administrators use only. 1. Start Windows. 2. Logon with administrative privileges if you are using Windows NT4.0/2000/XP. 3. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 4. Click Start. 5. Click Run. 6 Type "HSFSETUP.EXE -s" with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 3, and click OK. The default location is C:\Drivers\WIN\SWMDMCNT. -------------------------------------- Determining which version is installed -------------------------------------- You can check the version of the modem driver package using ThinkPad Software Installer. 1. Click Start, select Programs, select, Access IBM and click ThinkPad Software Installer. 2. In the ThinkPad Software Installer window, select View driver or application version information and click Next. 3. Check the version of IBM Integrated 56K Modem for Windows xx, where xx is either 98, NT4.0 or 2000/XP. You can also check the modem driver version by the following procedure: The driver version of this package is 7.02.02.00 for Windows XP/2000 and 7.02.01.00 for Windows 98/NT4.0. For Windows 98/98 SE 1. Start Windows 95/98/98 SE 2. Click Start, select Settings, and click Control Panel. 3. Double-click System. 4. Click the Device Manager tab. 5. Double-click Modems. 6. Select IBM Integrated 56K Modem and click Properties. 7. Click the Driver tab and click Driver File details. 8. Select WIN95AC.VXD and check the version shown. For Windows NT4.0 1. Start Windows NT. 2. Double-click My Computer. 3. Double-click C:. 4. Double-click the Winnt or Winnt40 folder. 5. Double-click the System32 folder. 6. Double-click the Drivers folder. 7. Find the file named HSF_CNXT.sys, right-click the icon, then click Properties. 8. You can find the driver version in the Version tab. For Windows 2000 1. Start Windows 2000 2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 3. Double-Click System icon. 4. Click Hardware tab. 5. Click Device Manager button. 6. Double-click Modems. 7. Select HSF_CNXT.SYS and check the version shown in the window. ------------------------------------------ Using Modem on Hold (MoH) and Fast Connect ------------------------------------------ Notes: - To use these functions, you need a telephone line that has the call waiting function and the caller ID function, which each country or region sets independently. You also have to Connect to an ISP access point that is compatible with these function. Check with your ISP. - The MoH function has been tested and shown to work in the United States and Canada. It may not work correctly in other countries. - The Fast Connect function works well if you dial to the same phone number from only one place. Otherwise, it is better to disable the Fast Connect function. - To use the Modem on Hold and Fast Connect function, you have to run the Modem on Hold application first and enable each function by the following procedure: 1. Click Start, select All Programs, select NetWaiting, and click Netwaiting. 2. Right-click the NetWaiting icon in the task tray and click Setting. 3.
