This release supports the following systems: - ThinkPad R50, R50p, R51 - ThinkPad T41, T41p, T42, T42p - ThinkPad X40 *1 NOTE: *1 ThinkPad X40 BIOS Version:1.13(1UET62WW) or higher and Embedded Controller Program: 1.12(1UHT58WW) or higher are required to enable the IBM Active Protection System. Please update BIOS and Embedded Controller Program if necessary. For more detail, please refer to release notes of BIOS and Embedded Controller Program. Installation Instructions ------------------------- NOTE: - ThinkPad Software Installer provides install/(uninstall) wizard for this package. UNINSTALL FOR Windows 2000: 1. Start Windows 2000 and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel. 3. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon. 4. Select IBM Hard Drive Active Protection System. 5. Click Change/Remove. 6. Click OK. 7. Click Finish. 8. Restart the system. UNINSTALL FOR Windows XP: 1. Start Windows XP and logon with administrative privileges. 2. For Windows XP with Classic Start menu, click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel. Otherwise, click Start, then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click the Add or Remove Programs icon. 4. Select IBM Hard Drive Active Protection System. 5. Click Change/Remove. 6. Click OK. 7. Click Finish. 8. Restart the system. INSTALL FOR Windows 2000/XP: 1. Start Windows 2000/XP, and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Click Start, then click Run. 3. Click the Browse button. 4. Select the folder where IBM Hard Drive Active Protection System package is stored. 5. Select Setup.exe. 6. Click the Open button. 7. Click OK. 8. Click Next. 9. Click Next. 10. Click Finish and restart the system. Determining which version is installed -------------------------------------- Windows 2000: 1. Start Windows 2000. 2. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel. 3. Double-click the IBM Hard Drive Protection icon. 4. Click the Real-time Status tab on the IBM Hard Drive Active Protection System Properties. 5. The version information is shown in the Software Version: section. Windows XP: 1. Start Windows XP. 2. For Windows XP with Classic Start menu, click Start, select Settings, and click Control Panel. Otherwise, click Start, then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click the IBM Hard Drive Protection icon. 4. Click the Real-time Status tab on the IBM Hard Drive Active Protection System Properties. 5. The version information is shown in the Software Version: section. UNATTENDED INSTALL FOR Windows 2000/XP: This is for system administrators' use only. 1. Start Windows 2000/XP, and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, then click Run. 4. Type [Program Path]\setup -s -SMS and click OK. [Program Path] is the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2.
