Installation Guide ------------------ (Note) - To determine if you have to update the Utility program or not, please refer to the Summary of Changes section. - Make sure your system does not have previous version of ThinkPad Configuration program. If has, you must uninstall the Configuration Utility program by: 1. Select Start, point to Settings, and select Control Panel 2. Double-click on Add/Remove Programs. 3. Press Install/Uninstall, choose Configuration Utility, then click on Add/Remove. 4. Shut down and restart the computer. HOW TO INSTALL THE CONFIGURATION UTILITY: 1. Start Windows 2000/XP. 2. Extract this package to the hard disk. 3. Click on Start, and select Run... 4. Type C:\DRIVERS\W2K\UTILITY\SETUP and click OK. 5. Follow the instructions on the screen. 6. After the installation, restart the computer. HOW TO DETERMINE WHAT VERSION IS INSTALLED: 1. Start Windows 2000/XP. 2. Click on Start, point to Search and select All files or folders. 3. In the All or part of the file name: field, type in thinkpad.exe. 5. In the Look in: field, specify Local Hard drives (C:,D:). 6. Click on the Search button. Windows will now search your hard drive for thinkpad.exe. If the file is not found, then the Configuration Utility is not installed on your system. 7. In the Found field of the window, right click on thinkpad.exe located in C:\Program Files\Configuration Utility and select Properties. 8. Click on the Version tab. 9. Click on the File Version in Other version information. File version information will be displayed.
