In case of Windows 2000, It is required to install DirectX version 9.0C before Audio driver installation and SP4. - UAA High Definition Audio Class Driver (Article ID 888111) provided by Microsoft should be installed before installing this package. - Noise may be experienced using the pause function of MediaPlayer after suspend/resume intermittently. What This Package Does ----------------------- This package provides the audio driver for Windows XP SP2 / 2000 SP4. This package enables or updates the audio function of the following ThinkPad computers: - ThinkPad T60, T60p - ThinkPad X60, X60s Released Versions ----------------- Version 5.10.1.4230 Update release Version 5.10.1.4270 Support for T60/T60p and X60/X60s. Also added new features. Installation instructions ------------------------- This driver can be installed with the Software Installer, or by following the instcructions in the next section. In both cases, please confirm that the driver is correctly installed, by determining the installed driver version as described below. Clean installation: 1. Start Windows and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator for Windows 2000/XP. 2. Extract this package onto the hard drive. 3. Click Start, then click Run. 4. Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\AUDIO\SETUP.EXE in the Open box and click OK. 5. Follow the instructions on the screen. 6. Click Finish and Reboot the system when prompted to complete the installation. Upgrading or reinstall: Note: Remove any previously installed driver using the uninstall step in the next section. 1. Start Windows and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator for Windows 2000/XP. 2. Extract this package onto the hard drive. 3. Click Start, then click Run. 4. Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\AUDIO\SETUP.EXE in the Open box and click OK. 5. If the dialog box appears, select Reinstall or Update and then click Next. 6. Click Finish to reboot the system and complete the installation. Unattended installation (Windows 2000/XP): Note: This is for system administrators' use only. In the step 4. of the Clean Installation procedure type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\AUDIO\SETUP.EXE -S -SMS in the Open box and click OK. Uninstallation instructions 1. Start Windows 2000/XP and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. Depending on the operating system choose one of the following paths: a. If Windows 2000, Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel. b. If Windows XP, Click Start, then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs. 4. Click SoundMAX, then click Change/Remove (or Add/Remove). 5. Select Remove or OK, then click Next or OK. 6. Click Finish or OK and reboot the system to fully uninstall the drivers. Determining which version is installed -------------------------------------- Windows 2000 1. Start Windows. 2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click System. 4. Click the Hardware tab at the top of the System Properties window for Windows 2000. 5. Click Device Manager. 6. Expand the Sound, video and game controllers section. 7. Select SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio. 8. Right-click SoundMax Integrated Digital HD Audio, and select Properties. 9. Click the Driver tab. 10. Click Driver Details. 11. Select C:\winnt\system32\drivers\ADIHDAud.sys, to display the version number, where C:\winnt is the location the OS is installed. (Confirm the last 4 digits are 4270) Windows XP 1. Start Windows XP. 2. Click Start and then click Control Panel. 3. Click Performance and Maintenance. 4. Click System. 5. Click the Hardware tab. 6. Click Device Manager. 7.
