What This Package Does ----------------------- This package provides power management function for Hard drive & Hard drive related circuitry to the following ThinkPad computers for Windows 2000/XP users only under the following configurations: Windows 2000/XP support: - ThinkPad T43, T43p, R52, X41, X41 Tablet, X60s (Machine Type 2533/2534) Released Versions ----------------- Version 1.00 - Initial release Version 1.01 - Change program title Version 1.02 - Fix Summary of Changes ------------------ Where: Version (for example, 1.00 means Version 1.00) (New) New function or enhancement (Fix) Correction to existing functions <1.0> -(New) Initial for ThinkPad T43, T43p <1.01> -(Fix) Change the program title <1.02> -(Fix) Solves a hard drive being slow due to change the transfer mode from UDMA-5 to PIO. (This will resume to the UDMA-5 mode at installation time) Note: Before installation, be sure to close all of the application programs. After installtion, be sure to reboot your ThinkPad. Installation Guide ------------------ Note: To determine if you should update the power management driver, refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. Software Installer provides install/uninstall wizard for this package. INSTALL: 1. Start Windows 2000/XP. Logon with a User ID of Administrator. 2. Extract this package onto the hard drive. 3. Click 'Start' -> 'Run...'. 4. Type [Program Path]\SETUP, and click OK. Program Path is the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2, and click OK. 5. Follow the instructions on the screen. UNINSTALL: Uninstalation is supported by Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. Logon with the user ID authorized as an administrator on Windows 2000/XP. Silent Installation Guide (for Unattended Installation support) --------------------------------------------------------------- Note: This is for system administrators' use only. When you type [Program Path]\SETUP in the above installation guide, add "-S -SMS" parameter to SETUP. (You need to type "[Program Path]\SETUP -S -SMS" in "Run...". ) HOW TO DETERMINE WHAT VERSION IS INSTALLED: Method 1) If you have the original extracted files, find the TPDISKPM.VER file. You can see the version information using a text editor. Start Windows 2000. 2. Click Start, point to Find, then click For Files or Folders. 3. Click the Name & Location tab. 4. In the Named: field, type the file name listed above in the table. 5. In the Look in: field, specify Local Hard drives (C:,D:). 6. Click the Find Now button. Windows will now search your hard disk drive for the specified file. If the file is not found, then the Modem driver is not installed on your system. 7. In the Found part of the window, select the file name located in C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\Drivers. 8. Scroll the window to the right and look at the Modified column to check the date/time of the each file. For Windows XP 1. Start Windows XP 2. Click Start, then click Seach. 3. Click All files and folders. 4. In the All or part of the file name: field, type each file name. 5. In the Look in: field, select C: drive. 6. Click More Advanced Options, then check Search subfolders. 7. Click Search button. Windows will now search your hard disk drive for the specified file. If the file is not found, then the Modem driver is not installed on your system. 7. In the Found part of the window, select the file name located in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Drivers. 8. Scroll the window to the right and look at the Modified column to check the date/time of the each file.
