to install the latest Atmel TPM device driver, please follow the 
instructions below before executing Software Installer.

- If the following file is located on your ThinkPad, rename it to 
  IBM.XML

   c:\IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\CSSATM\IBMTPI.XML


What This Package Does
----------------------
This package provides the TPM driver for Windows 2000/XP/XP Tablet 
Edition 2005.  The TPM driver enables or updates the TPM functions
on the following ThinkPad computers.

This release supports the following systems:

  - ThinkPad R60, R60e
  - ThinkPad T42, T42p
  - ThinkPad T60, T60p
  - ThinkPad X41
  - ThinkPad X41 Tablet(*1)
  - ThinkPad X60, X60s
  - ThinkPad X60 Tablet(*1)
  - ThinkPad Z60m, Z60t, Z61e, Z61m, Z61p, Z61t

  (Note) *1: Supports Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 only.


To determine if you should update the TPM driver, refer to the
"Summary of Changes" section.

To update the TPM driver, refer to the "Installation Instructions"
section.

Installation Instructions
-------------------------

Note: ThinkPad Software Installer provides install/(uninstall) wizard
for the device driver in the following operating systems:

- Microsoft Windows 2000
- Microsoft Windows XP
- Microsoft Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005


Windows 2000

UPDATE INSTALL:

 1. Start Windows 2000.
 2. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
 3. Double-click System icon.
 4. Click Hardware tab.
 5. Click Device Manager button.
 6. Click + mark to expand System devices category.
 7. Right-click Atmel Tpm Pnp Device or Atmel TPM in System
    devices and click Properties.
 8. Click Driver tab.
 9. Click Update Driver button.
10. Click Next button.
11. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device.
12. Click Next button.
13. Click Have Disk button, then Browse button, locate the driver,
    and click Open button.
14. Click OK button.
15. Click Next button.
16. Click Next button.
17. Click Finish button when completed.
18. Click Close button.


CLEAN INSTALL: (Found New Hardware Wizard)
If it is the first time to boot Windows 2000, the OS detects the TPM 
Device automatically.  To install the device driver, follow the 
instructions below:

 1. Start Windows 2000.
 2. It displays Found New Hardware Wizard dialog box.
 3. Click Next button.
 4. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device.
 5. Click Next button.
 6. Select Specify a location only.
 7. Click Next button.
 8. Click Browse button, locate the driver, and click Open button.
 9. Click OK button.
10. Click Next button.
11. Click Finish button when completed.

CLEAN INSTALL: (Unknown device in Other or System devices)
Windows 2000 detected the TPM Device, but was not able to locate the 
suitable device driver.  In this case, you will see Unknown device in 
Other devices or System devices category in the Device Manager.  To 
install the driver, follow the instructions below:

 1. Start Windows 2000
 2. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
 3. Double-click System icon.
 4. Click Hardware tab.
 5. Click Device Manager button.
 6. Right-click Unknown device in Other devices or System devices and 
    click Properties.
 7. Click Driver tab.
 8. Click Update Driver button.
 9. Click Next button.
10. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device.
11. Click Next button.
12. Select Specify a location only.
13. Click Next button.
14. Click Browse button, locate the driver, and click Open button.
15. Click OK button.
16. Click Next button
17. Click Finish button when completed
18. Click Close button


Windows XP / Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005

UPDATE INSTALL:

 1. Start Windows XP / Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005.
 2. Click Start and Control Panel.
 3. Click Performance and Maintenance and then System icon.
 4. Click Hardware tab.
 5. Click Device Manager button.
 6. Click + mark to expand System devices category.
 7. Right-click Atmel Tpm Pnp Device or Atmel TPM in System
    devices and click Properties.
 8. Click Driver tab.
 9. Click Update Driver button.
10. Select No, not this time and click Next button.
11. Select Install from a list or specific location.
12. Click Next button.
13. Select Don't search. I will choose the driver to install.
14. Click Next button.
15. Click Have Disk button.
16. Click Browse button, select the folder that contains the driver,
    and click Open button.
17. Click OK button.
18. Click Next button.
19. Click Finish button when completed.
20. Click Close button.


CLEAN INSTALL: (Found New Hardware Wizard)
If it is the first time to boot Windows XP / Windows XP Tablet Edition 
2005, Windows XP / Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005 detects the TPM 
Device automatically.  To install the device driver, follow the 
instructions below.

 1. Start Windows XP / Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005.
 2. It displays Found New Hardware Wizard dialog box.
 3. Select No, not this time and click Next button.
 4. Select Install from a list or specific location.
 5. Click Next button.
 6. Select Search for the best driver in these locations and
    Include this location in the search only.
 7. Click Browse button, select the folder that contains
    the driver, and click OK button.
 8. Click Next button.
 9. Click Finish button when completed.

CLEAN INSTALL: (Unknown device in Other or System devices)
Windows XP / Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005 detected the TPM Device,
but was not able to find the suitable
device driver.  In this case, you will see Unknown device in Other 
devices or System devices category in the Device Manager.  To install 
the driver, follow the instructions below:

 1. Start Windows XP / Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005.
 2. Click Start and Control Panel.
 3. Click Performance and Maintenance and then System icon.
 4. Click Hardware tab.
 5. Click Device Manager button.
 6. Right-click Unknown device in Other devices or System devices and 
    click Properties.
 7. Click Driver tab.
 8. Click Update Driver button.
 9. Select No, not this time and click Next button.
10. Select Install from a list or specific location.
11. Click Next button.
12. Select Search for the best driver in these locations and
    Include this location in the search only.
13. Click Browse button, select the folder that contains the driver, 
    and click OK button.
14. Click Next button.
15. Click Finish button when completed.
16. Click Close button.


Determining which version is installed
--------------------------------------
To check the version of the device driver that is installed on your
system, follow the instructions below:

1. Open the Device Manager, expand System devices category, and open 
   Atmel Tpm Pnp Device or Atmel TPM.
2. Click Driver tab and check the Driver Version.
