to install the latest Atmel TPM device driver, please follow the instructions
below before executing ThinkPad Software Installer.

- If the following file is located in your ThinkPad, rename it to IBM.XML

   c:\IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\CSSATM\IBMTPI.XML


What This Package Does
----------------------
This package provides the TPM driver for Windows 2000/XP/XP Tablet Edition
2005/Vista 32-bit.  The TPM driver enables or updates the TPM functions
on the following ThinkPad computers.

This release supports the following systems:

  - ThinkPad R60(*2), R60e(*2), R61(*2)
  - ThinkPad R61i (Machine types: 7732, 7742, 8918, 8932, 8943)(*2)
  - ThinkPad T42, T42p
  - ThinkPad T60(*2), T60p(*2), T61(*2), T61p(*2)
  - ThinkPad X41, X41 Tablet(*1)
  - ThinkPad X60(*2), X60s(*2), X60 Tablet(*1)(*2)
  - ThinkPad X61, X61s, X61 tablet
  - ThinkPad Z60m, Z60t, Z61e(*2), Z61m(*2), Z61p(*2), Z61t(*2)
  - ThinkPad Reserve Edition(*3)

  (Note) *1: Supports Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005 only.
         *2: For Windows Vista, the TPM device driver is included in
             Windows Vista.  No update is needed from this driver package.
         *3: Supports Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit only.

To determine if you should update the TPM driver, refer to the
"Summary of Changes" section.

Installation Instructions
-------------------------

Windows 2000

UPDATE INSTALL:
To update the driver, follow the instructions below:

 1. Start Windows 2000.
 2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
 3. Double-click System.
 4. Click Hardware tab.
 5. Click Device Manager.
 6. Click to expand the System devices category.
 7. Right-click Atmel Tpm Pnp Device or Atmel TPM in System
    devices, then click Properties.
 8. Click the Driver tab.
 9. Click Update Driver.
10. Click Next.
11. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device.
12. Click Next button.
13. Click Have Disk, then click Browse. Locate the driver,
    then click Open.
    The default location for this driver is: C:\Drivers\Win\TPM.
14. Click OK.
15. Click Next.
16. Click Next.
17. Click Finish when completed.
18. Click Close.


CLEAN INSTALL: (Found New Hardware Wizard)
If it is the first time to boot Windows 2000, the OS detects the "TPM Device"
automatically.  To install the device driver, follow the instructions below:

 1. Start Windows 2000.
 2. It displays Found New Hardware Wizard dialog box.
 3. Click Next.
 4. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device.
 5. Click Next.
 6. Select Specify a location only.
 7. Click Next.
 8. Click Browse, locate the driver, then click Open.
    The default location for this driver is: C:\Drivers\Win\TPM.
 9. Click OK.
10. Click Next.
11. Click Finish when completed.


CLEAN INSTALL: (Unknown device in Other or System devices)
Windows 2000 detected the "TPM Device", but was not able to locate the suitable
device driver.  In this case, you will see "Unknown device" in "Other devices"
or "System devices" category in the Device Manager.  To install the driver, follow the
instructions below:

 1. Start Windows 2000
 2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
 3. Double-click System.
 4. Click the Hardware tab.
 5. Click Device Manager.
 6. Right-click Unknown device in Other devices or System devices and
    click Properties.
 7. Click the Driver tab.
 8. Click Update Driver.
 9. Click Next.
10. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device.
11. Click Next.
12. Select Specify a location only.
13. Click Next.
14. Click Browse, locate the driver, then click Open.
    The default location for this driver is: C:\Drivers\Win\TPM.
15. Click OK.
16. Click Next.
17. Click Finish when completed.
18. Click Close.


Windows XP / Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005

UPDATE INSTALL:
To update the driver, follow the instructions below:

 1. Start Windows XP / Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005.
 2. Click Start and Control Panel.
 3. Click Performance and Maintenance, then double-click System.
 4. Click Hardware tab.
 5. Click Device Manager.
 6. Click to expand the System devices category.
 7. Right-click Atmel Tpm Pnp Device or Atmel TPM in System
    devices, then click Properties.
 8. Click Driver
 9. Click Update Driver.
10. Select No, not this time and click Next button.
11. Select Install from a list or specific location.
12. Click Next.
13. Select Don't search. I will choose the driver to install.
14. Click Next.
15. Click Have Disk.
16. Click Browse, select the folder that contains the driver,
    the click Open.
    The default location for this driver is: C:\Drivers\Win\TPM.
17. Click OK.
18. Click Next.
19. Click Finish when completed.
20. Click Close.


CLEAN INSTALL: (Found New Hardware Wizard)
If it is the first time to boot Windows XP / Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005,
Windows XP / Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005 detects the "TPM Device"
automatically.  To install the device driver, follow the instructions below.

 1. Start Windows XP / Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005.

 3. Select No, not this time and click Next button.
 4. Select Install from a list or specific location.
 5. Click Next.
 6. Select Search for the best driver in these locations and
    Include this location in the search only.
 7. Click Browse, select the folder that contains
    the driver, and click OK.
    The default location for this driver is: C:\Drivers\Win\TPM.
 8. Click Next.
 9. Click Finish when completed.

CLEAN INSTALL: (Unknown device in Other or System devices)
Windows XP / Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005 detected the "TPM Device",
but was not able to find the suitable
device driver.  In this case, you will see "Unknown device" in "Other devices"
or "System devices" category in the Device Manager.  To install the driver,
follow the instructions below:

 1. Start Windows XP / Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005.

UPDATE INSTALL:
To update the driver, follow the instructions below:

 1. Start Windows Vista.
 2. Click Start and then Control Panel.
 3. Click System and Maintenance and then System.
 4. Click Device Manager.
 5. Click + of System devices to expand the category.
 6. Right-click NSC TPM Device, NSC Integrated Trusted Platform
    Module 1.1 or Winbond Trusted Platform Module 1.1 and then
    select Update Driver Software...
 7. Click Browse my computer for driver software.
 8. Click Browse... and then point the driver location.
    The default location for this driver is: C:\Drivers\Win\TPM.
 9. Confirm Include subfolders is selected and click Next.
10. Click Close when the installation is completed.

CLEAN INSTALL: (Unknown device in Other devices)
Windows Vista detected the "TPM Device", but was not able to find the suitable
device driver.  In this case, you will see "Unknown device" in "Other devices"
category in the Device Manager.  To install the driver, follow the instructions below:

 1. Start Windows Vista.
 2. Click Start and then Control Panel.
 3. Click System and Maintenance and then System.
 4. Click Device Manager.
 5. Click + of Other devices to expand the category.
 6. Right-click Unknown device and then select
    Update Driver Software...
 7. Click Browse my computer for driver software.
 8. Click Browse... and then point to the driver location.
    The default location for this driver is: C:\Drivers\Win\TPM.
 9. Confirm Include subfolders is selected and click Next.
10. Click Close when the installation is completed.


Determining which version is installed
--------------------------------------

To check the version of the device driver that is installed on your
system, follow the instructions below:

For Windows 2000/XP:

1. Open the Device Manager, expand System devices category, and open
   Atmel Tpm Pnp Device or Atmel TPM.
2. Click Driver tab and check the Driver Version.

For Windows Vista 32-bit:

 1. Right-click Computer, then click Properties.
 2. Click Device Manager.
 3. Click "+" of System devices to expand the category.
 4. Double-click Atmel Tpm Pnp Device" or Atmel TPM.
 5. Click the Driver tab and the driver version will be displayed.
