What This Package Does ---------------------- This package provides the TPM driver for Windows Vista. The TPM driver enables or updates the TPM functions on the following ThinkPad computers. This release supports the following systems: - ThinkPad T42 - ThinkPad T42p - ThinkPad X41 - ThinkPad X41 Tablet - ThinkPad Z60m, Z60t To determine if you should update the TPM driver, refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. To update the TPM driver, refer to the "Installation Instructions" section. Start Windows Vista 2. Click Start and then click Control Panel. 3. Open System and then click Device Manager. 4. Expand the System devices category, right-click Atmel TPM, and click Update Driver software. 5. Click Browse my computer for driver software. 6. Click Browse... then point to the driver location 7. Confirm that the Include subfolders check box is selected and click Next. 8. Click Install to the message, "The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to install this driver software?". 9. Installation will be completed then click Close. CLEAN INSTALL(*)(**): ------------------------- (Unknown device in Other devices) 1. Start Windows Vista 2. Click Start and then click Control Panel. 3. Open System and then click Device Manager. 4. Click Unknown device in Other devices to expand the category, and then rignt-click and select Properties. If there are multiple Unknown devices you can determine the right device by the following steps. 4-1. After opening the Properties of Unknown device, click the Details tab. 4-2. At Property show Hardware IDs, if ATM1200 value is shown, it is Atmel TPM device, if not, please select another Unknown device and repeat step 3. 5. Click the Driver tab, then click Update Driver. 6. Click Browse my computer for driver software. 7. Click the Browse.. button, then point to the TPM device driver location. 8. Confirm Include subfolders check box is selected, and then click Next. 9. Installation will be completed, and then click close. You will see Atmel TPM device in System devices in Device Manager. (*) During installation, sometimes the following dialogs appear because of Windows Security of Vista. Please choose Install and then proceed with the installation. - Message 1 - Windows Security - Would you like to install this device software? You should only install drivers software from publishers you trust. - Message 2 - Windows Security - Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software (**) During installation, sometimes following dialogs appear because of User Account Control of Vista. Please click Continue or Allow and then proceed installation. - Message 1 - A program needs your permission to continue If you started this program, continue. - Message 2 - An unidentified program wants access to your computer Don't run the program unless you know where it's from or you've used it before. Determining which version is installed -------------------------------------- To check the version of the device driver that is installed on your system, follow the instructions below: 1. Open Device Manager, expand the System devices category, and open Atmel Tpm Pnp Device or Atmel TPM. 2. Click the Driver tab and check the Driver Version.
