Double-click Network adapters. 2. If you use ThinkVantage Access Connections, it must be updated to: - Ver 4.22 or higher for "Intel PRO/Wireless 3945BG / 3945ABG Network Connection" - Ver 4.22 or higher for "Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG / 2915ABG Network Connection. And install Hotkey Features for Windows 2000/XP Version 1.24.0603 or higher for all. 2. If you currently use IEEE 802.1x authentication on Windows XP Service Pack 1 and do not use WPA encryption, it is recommended that you uninstall Q826942 (WPA Supplicant update rollup package in Windows XP) and Q815485 (WPA Wireless Security Update in Windows XP). This does not apply if you are running Windows XP Service Pack 2. To check if Q826942 or Q815485 is installed and to uninstall it: 1. Start Windows XP and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Click Start and then click Control Panel. 3. Click Add or Remove Programs. 4. Click Windows XP Hotfix (SP2) Q826942 or Windows XP Hotfix (SP2) Q815485 if it is listed under Currently installed programs. 5. Click Remove and follow the instructions on the screen. Note: The above action will remove all the fixes within the update rollup package, Q826942. You may need to re-install the other specific hotfixes you expect for this rollup package. 3. If you use Windows 2000, please stop the Microsoft Wireless Configuration service if it is already installed. To check if the service is installed and to stop it: 1. Start Windows 2000 and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click Administrative Tools then Services. 4. Double-click Wireless Configuration if it is listed. 5. Change Startup type to Disabled if it is not. 6. Click OK. 4. You may need to re-enter security information after updating the Wireless LAN driver. 5. If you use Single Sign-On with the following authentications, ThinkVantage Access Connections version 4.22 or higher is needed. - LEAP on Windows XP - LEAP, EAP-TLS and PEAP-CHAP on Windows 2000 6. [Specification changes] 2200BG/2915ABG Network Connection will report lower signal strength than with previous driver versions. Because the 2200BG/2915ABG methodology was changed to be more accurate and responsive, similar to the 3945BG/3945ABG. However, wireless network performance and functions are not affected at all by this change. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Notes: - If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Version Information section. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. Manual Install This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Explorer. Note: If you use ThinkVantage Access Connections, Intel PROSet/Wireless component needs to be installed as pre-selected during the above procedure. Downloading files 1. Click once on the underlined file name with the left mouse button. Once this is done, a pop-up window will appear. 2. In this pop-up window, choose (using the left mouse button) the directory you would like to download the file to and click the "Save" button. A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete without your assistance. 3. Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating that the download completed successfully. 4. After being downloaded, the file will need to be extracted. Extracting files 5. Locate the directory where the file was downloaded. 6. Locate the file that was just downloaded and double click it using the left mouse button. 7. The file will begin to extract in the directory where the downloaded file is located. Install 8. Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges. 9. Open an Explorer and locate the directory where the files were extracted. 10. Double-click ACSETUP file. 11. Follow the instructions on the screen. 12. Restart the computer. Unattended Install Note: This is for system administrators' use only. - Refer to the Manual Install section, and download and expand the files. - At the command line, execute ACSETUP.EXE with the /QI option. (For example) C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLANINT\ACSETUP.EXE /QI Uninstall --------------------------------------------------------------------- Note: If winlogon.exe error or any problem occurs after uninstalling the software, re-install any version of the software for problem solving. 1. Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges. 2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel. 3. ThinkVantage Access Connections will not work if Windows XP Software Network Bridge connection is created. To recover the ThinkVantage Access Connections function: 1-1. Confirm that the following Device Name belongs to "Network Bridge".
