INSTALLATION NOTES ==================================================================== I. GENERAL PRODUCT DESCRIPTION This diskette contains the necessary device drivers required to support the IBM fixed disk, CD-ROM and Rewritable Optical devices. NOTE: SOME SCSI DEVICES COME WITH OPTION DISKETTES. THESE DISKETTES MAY CONTAIN UTILITY PROGRAMS REQUIRED FOR PROPER OPERATION OR ENHANCED FUNCTIONALITY. CONSULT THE DOCUMENTATION THAT CAME WITH THE SCSI DEVICE FOR INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. THE INSTALLATION OF THESE UTILITIES SHOULD BE DONE BEFORE USING THE IBM THINKPAD DOCK I OPTION DISKETTE. 1) DOS environment: The IBM drivers are to be used in the DOS environment to support CD-ROM and R/W Optical drives only. 2) OS/2 2.1 environment: In the OS/2 2.1 environment, the TMC-850IBM Adapter Device Driver (FD850IBM.ADD) should be used to support the IBM ThinkPad Dock I. Once the driver has been installed, support for the IBM SCSI Rewriteable Optical drive and/or an IBM SCSI CD-ROM drive may also be installed. II. USING THE DEVICE DRIVERS 1) Description: For a complete description of the Device Drivers, refer to the documentation included in your IBM ThinkPad Dock I. 2) Installation procedure for DOS: To simplify the installation process, use the device driver install utility (UINSTALL). This utility will copy the necessary device drivers to the target drive and make appropriate changes, if necessary, to the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT startup files. 3) Special installation instructions for IBM OS/2 2.1 users: To simplify the installation process, use device driver install utility (DDINSTAL). This utility will copy the necessary device drivers to the target drive and make the appropriate changes if necessary to the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT startup files. Be sure to follow the instructions in the IBM ThinkPad Dock I User's Guide to run the DDINSTAL utility. V. INSTALLATION NOTES 1) The IBM ThinkPad Dock I has built in support for SCSI hard drives. Follow the instructions that came with the operating system to prepare the SCSI hard drive for use. 2) SCSI hard disk drives can be configured to be the boot hard disk drive for the computer. Follow the instructions in the IBM ThinkPad Dock I User's Guide to set the "Startup Sequence" option and enable booting from hard disk drive where required.
