Windows 98/Me 1. Start Windows 98/Me. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 4. Double-click the System icon. 5. Click the Device Manager tab. 6. Expand the Network adapters section. 7. Click Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter(10/100) to select it. 8. Click the Properties button. 9. Click the Driver tab. 10. Click the Update Driver button. 11. Click the Next button on the Update Device Driver Wizard window. 12. Click Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want. 13. Click the Next button. 14. Click the Have Disk button. 15. Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET. 16. Click the OK button. 17. Click Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter(10/100). 18. Click the OK button. 19. Click the Next button. 20. Click the Finish button. 21. Click the YES button and restart the system for the driver to be effective. Windows 2000 1. Start Windows 2000 and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 4. Double-click the System icon. 5. Click the Hardware tab at the top of the System Properties window. 6. Click the Device Manager button. 7. Expand the Network adapters section. 8. Right-click Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter(10/100) and select Properties. 9. Click the Driver tab. 10. Click the Update Driver button. 11. Click the Next button. 12. Click Display a list of the known drivers for this device, you can choose a specific driver. 13. Click the Next button. 14. Click the Have Disk button. 15. Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET. 16. Click the OK button. 17. Click Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter(10/100) in the list. 18. Click the Next button. 19. Click the Next button. 20. Click the Finish button. 21. Restart the system for the driver to be effective. Determining which version is installed -------------------------------------- Windows 98/Me 1. Start Windows 98/Me. 2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click the System icon. 4. Click the Device Manager tab. 5. Expand the Network adapters section. 6. Double-click the Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter(10/100). 7. Click the Driver tab. 8. Click the Driver File details button. 9. Highlight the file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\E100BNT5.SYS. The file has the File version number embedded. Windows 2000 1. Start Windows 2000. 2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click the System icon. 4. Click the Hardware tab at the top of the System Properties window. 5. Click the Device Manager button. 6. Expand the Network adapters section. 7. Select Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter(10/100). 8. Right-click Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter(10/100) and select Properties. 9. Click the Driver tab. 10. Click the Drivers Details button. 11. Highlight the file C:\WINNT\System32\DRIVERS\e100bnt5.sys. 12. File version will be displayed at File version.
