(New) New function or enhancement (Fix) Correction to existing function <1.1.5.0 (1RWA01WW) - 1.1.5.0> - (New) Support for ThinkPad R40 (Machine Types 2722, 2723, 2724), T40, T41, T42, and X31. ------------------------- Installation Instructions ------------------------- NOTES: - Windows NT4.0 Service Pack 6a or later is required. - ThinkPad Software Installer does not Windows NT4.0. - IBM Access Connections does not support Windows NT4.0. - Both of the following components need to be installed: - Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter - Intel(R) PROSet II - In some cases, you may need to re-enter SSID and/or WEP keys after updating the driver. 1. Start Windows NT and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel. 4. Double-click the Network icon. The Network Configuration dialog box is displayed if this is the first time configuring the Network. If not, go to step 20. (First Network Configuration) 5. Click the Yes button. 6. Select Wired to the network. 7. Click the Next button. 8. Click the Select from list button. 9. Click the Have Disk button. 10. Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANINT\PROW2100\WINNT4 in the Insert Disk dialog box. If you have extracted the files to a different location, specify PROW2100\WINNT4 directory under this location instead. 11. Click the OK button. 12. Select Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 Mini PCI Adapter. 13. Click the OK button. 14. Click the Next button. 15. Follow the instructions on the screen. 16. Follow the prompts for any Windows NT installation disks by typing the path to the directory that contains Windows NT files. (It is usually C:\i386 directory or Windows NT CD-ROM's X:\i386 directory.) 17. Follow the instructions on the screen. 18. Click the Finish button when the installation completes. 19. Click Yes when prompted to restart the system. (Adding Wireless LAN to Network Configuration) 20. Click the Adapters tab. 21. Click the Add button. 22. Click the Have Disk button. 23. Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANINT\PROW2100\WINNT4 in the Insert Disk dialog box. If you have extracted the files to a different location, specify NT4 directory under this location instead. 24. Click the OK button. 25. Select Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 Mini PCI Adapter. 26. Click the OK button. 27. Click the Close button. 28. Follow the instructions on the screen. 29. Click Yes when prompted to restart the system. 1. Start Windows NT and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Click Start and then click Run. 3. In the run dialog window, type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANINT\APPS\PROSSE\WINNT4\WSETUP.EXE If you have extracted the files to a different location, specify this location instead. 4. If asked to remove the Intel(R) PRO Intelligent Installer, uninstall this software from the Add/Remove Programs utility in the Control Panel and do the step 22 again. 5. Follow the instructions. 6. Click Finish and then Yes when prompted to restart the system. 1. Start Windows NT and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click the Network icon. 4. Click the Adapters tab. 5. Select Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 Mini PCI Adapter. 6. Click the Remove button. 7. Follow the instructions on the screen. 8. Click Yes when prompted to restart the system. This is for system administrators only. 1. Create the following folder structure under the source drive: | +---\I386 | +---\$OEM$ | | | +------\C | | | | | +---\WINNT | | | | | +---\SYSTEM32 | | | | | +---\DRIVERS | | | +------\NET | | | +---\2100 | +---UNATTEND.TXT 2. Copy all the content of the I386 folder of the Windows NT 4.0 Install CD to the \I386 folder. 3. Copy the NDIS.SYS file from the Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6a CD to the following folder: \I386\$OEM$\C\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS 4. Copy all the content of the following extracted Driver folder to the \I386\$OEM$\NET\2100 folder: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANINT\PROW2100\WINNT4 If you have extracted the files to a different location, specify PROW2100\WINNT4 directory under this location instead. 5. Run WINNT /U:UNATTEND /S: -------------------------------------- Determining which version is installed -------------------------------------- 1. Double-Click the Intel(R) PROSet II icon in the Control Panel or the PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 Mini PCI Adapter icon on the taskbar. 2. Click PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 Mini PCI Adapter. 3. Click General tab and then Details button. 4.
