The Ethernet drivers are available in a separate package. This release supports the following systems: - ThinkPad A20m (with Mini PCI Combo) - ThinkPad A20p (with Mini PCI Combo) - ThinkPad T20x (with Mini PCI Combo) To determine if the Modem driver needs to be updated, refer to the "Summary of Changes" section below. To update the modem driver, refer to the "Installation Instructions" section below. Released Versions ----------------- Version 2.28.032.0066 Initial release for ThinkPad A20m/A20p. Initial release for Thinkpad T20. Installation Instructions ------------------------- 1. With the power removed, Insert the modem if necessary. 2. Start Windows 95/98SE/98GOLD. 3. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive. This will make two directories. MDMSETUP (Modem Setup and Application Software) MDMDISK2 (Modem Vxd Driver) 4. Click Start, then click Run. 5. In the Open field, type "C:\DRIVERS\W9x\MODEM\MDMSETUP\SETUP.EXE" to install the modem driver. Click the OK button to start the installation process. If you extracted the files to a different location, specify that location instead. 6. Press the "Next" button on the "Welcome" dialog screen. 7. Leave the "Yes, I want to restart my computer now." box checked and press the "Finish" button at the "Setup Complete" dialog screen. The system will restart. 8. Press the "OK" button at the "Insert Disk" dialog screen. 9. At the second "Insert disk" dialog screen, in the "Copy files from:" field, type "c:\windows\options\cabs" and press the OK button. 10. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete modem installation. Uninstalling the modem driver ----------------------------- 1. Start Windows 95/98 2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 3. Click System. 4. Click the Device Manager tab. 5. Click the + next to Modem. 6. Click IBM Modem. 7. Click the Remove button. 8. Select OK from the Confirm Device Removal dialogue box. 9. If asked to restart the machine, do so. Determining which version is installed -------------------------------------- 1. Start Windows 95/98 2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 3. Click System. 4. Click the Device Manager tab. 5. Click the + next to Modem. 6. Double Click 3Com Mini PCI 56K Modem. 7. Click the Driver tab. 8. Select the Driver File Details button. 9. The File Version will be on the screen below the Driver Files box. 10. If the File version number is less than the version in this file, then an update is needed.
