INSTALL: -------- Note: If you wish to upgrade Access Connections, please uninstall it first. Network Manager needs to be disabled and Wireless Network Card Configuration should not be set through YaST to use Access Connections. 1. Start SUSE Linux. 2. In a terminal window, type su (switch user) command to obtain root privileges. 3. Copy the RPM file to the hard drive, for example, /home/tvt directory. 4. Change directory to the location where you saved the file. 5. Type rpm -ihv [Package Name].rpm ex. rpm -ihv l79a23us.rpm 6. Select the K Menu, select System, then select YaST. 7. Enter Administrator(root) password. 8. On the left pane of the window, select Network Devices. 9. On the right pane, select Network Card. 10. Select "Traditional Method with ifup" as Network Setup Method. 11. Click Next. 12. Select Lenovo 82573L Gigabit Ethernet Controller. 13. Click Edit. 14. Click the General tab. 15. Select Never as Device Activation. 16. Click Next. 17. Select Intel Pro/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection. 18. Click Edit. 19. Click the General tab. 20. Select Never as Device Activation. 21. Click Next to show Wireless Device Settings. 22. Make sure the Network Name (ESSID) field is empty. 23. Click Next. 24. A popup message of "Using no encryption is a security risk. Really continue?" is displayed. 25. Click Yes since the encryption can be set through Access Connections. 26. Click Next. 27. Select the K Menu, select Logout, then select Restart Computer. UNINSTALL: ---------- 1. Start SUSE Linux. 2. In a terminal window, type su (switch user) command to obtain root privileges. 3. Type rpm -e L79A. Remove location profile: ------------------------ 1. In a terminal window, type su (switch user) command to obtain root privileges. 2. Type rm -r /opt/thinkpad/ac/location Determining which version is installed: --------------------------------------- Start ThinkVantage Access Connections. Click Help and select About to show version information.
