The modem driver enables or updates the modem function of the following ThinkPad computers: - ThinkPad 390 - ThinkPad i Series 1720/1721 To determine if you have to update the modem driver or not, please refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. To update the modem driver, please refer to the "Installation Guide" section. Installation Guide ------------------ (Note) To determine if you have to update the modem driver or not, please refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. 1. Start Windows 95/98. 2. Extract the drivers onto the hard disk. 3. Click on "Start" -> "Run..." 4. Type C:\DRIVERS\W9X\MODEM\SETUP.BAT in the "Open" box and click on the "OK" button. 5. Click on "Next" to continue with the setup program. NOTE: There may appear to be a slight delay during the "Installing Modem" phase. Wait at least 60 seconds before trying anything on the system. 6. Click on "Finish". It may take the system a few moments to close the window and restart the system. 7. Shutdown and restart the computer. (Note) If the modem does not work, 1. Click on "Start" -> "Settings" -> "Control Panel". 2. Double click on "System" and click on the "Device Manager" tab. 3. If there is any "LT Win Modem" with exclamation mark, select it and click on "Remove". 4. Click on "Close" button in the Properties dialog box. 5. Shutdown and restart the computer.
