If version 5.62 is already installed, there is no need to install this release. <5.62b> - (Fix) Some INF files for the other devices are deleted when this modem driver is installed under Windows NT 4.0. Note: There is no functional change from V5.62. If version 5.62 is already installed, there is no need to install this release. However, if you need to reinstall version 5.62 or version 5.62a, use should use this release, version 5.62b (or later). Installation Instructions ------------------------- 1. Start Windows 95/98 or NT. If using Windows NT, log on with a user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. Extract the drivers onto the hard drive. 3. Click on 'Start' then click on 'Run...' 4. In the Run dialog window, type "C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MODEM\SETUP" to install the modem driver. Click OK to start the installation process. If you extracted the files to a different location, specify that location instead. 5. Follow the instructions on the screen. Please check the date stamp of setup.exe in your package which was downloaded) To check the date/time of these files. 1. Start Windows 95/98 or NT. 2. Click on 'Start' -> 'Find' -> 'Files or Folders...'. 3. Click on the 'Name & Location' tab. 4. In the 'Named:' field, type the each file name listed above table. 5. In the 'Look in:' field, specify "Local Hard drives (C:,D:)". 6. Click on the 'Find Now' button. Windows will now search your hard drive for the specified file. If the file is not found, then the Modem driver is not installed on your system. 7. In the 'Found' part of the window, select the file name located the appropriate operating system folder: For Windows 95/98, in "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM". For Windows NT in "C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32". 8. Scroll the window to the right and look at the 'Modified' column to check the date/time of the each file. How to uninstall the modem -------------------------- NOTE: - If you don't remove the modem H/W, Windows will redetect the modem during the next boot. 1. Start Windows 95/98 or NT. If using Windows NT, log on with a user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. Click on 'Start' -> 'Settings' -> 'Control panel'. 3. Double click 'Modems' icon in the Control Panel. 4. Select 'Lucent Win Modem'. 5. Click 'Remove' button. 6. When you asked if you want to remove the modem, click 'Yes' button. 7. Click 'Close' button in the "Modems Properties" window. Windows NT 4.0 users need to do the following additional steps: 8. Double click 'Devices' icon in the Control Panel. 9. Select 'Lucent Modem Driver. 10. Click 'Startup' button. 11.
