Clean installation: 1. Start Windows and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start and then click Run. 4. Type C:\DRIVERS\WNT\WSYNTHE\SETUP.EXE in the Open box and click OK. 5. Follow the instructions on the screen. 6. Click Finish and reboot the system when prompt to complete the installation. Upgrading or reinstall: NOTE: Remove any previously installed driver using the uninstall step in the next section. 1. Start Windows and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start and then click Run. 4. Type C:\DRIVERS\WNT\WSYNTHE\SETUP.EXE in the Open box and click OK. 5. If the dialog box appears, select Reinstall or Update and then click Next. 6. Click Finish to reboot the system and complete the installation. Unattended installation: This is for system administrators' use only. Do as follows in the step 4. of the Clean Installation procedure above: 1. Start Windows and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, then click Run. 4. Type C:\DRIVERS\WNT\WSYNTHE\SETUP.EXE -S -SMS in the Open box and click OK. 5. Follow the instructions on the screen. How to uninstall the driver 1. Start Windows and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel. 3. Double click the Add/Remove Programs icon. 4. Click on SoundMAX MIDI and then click on Add/Remove. A dialog box appears. 5. Select Remove or OK and then click Next or OK. 6. Click Finish or OK and reboot the system to fully uninstall the drivers. Determining which version is installed -------------------------------------- 1. Click Start, select Find, then click Files or Folders. 2. Click Name & Location. 3. In the Named: field, type syncor.exe. 4. In the Look in: field, specify Local Hard drives (C:,D:). 5. Click the Find Now button. If the file is not found, then the driver is not installed. 6. Right-click the file name found in the C:\WinNT directory, where C:\WinNT is the drive and directory that Windows NT was installed in. 7. Click Properties. 8.
