IBM ThinkPad October 14, 1998 MPEG Features Diskette IV for Windows 98 Version 1.01 ====================================================== What This Diskette Does ----------------------- The accompanying MPEG Features Diskette can enable or update the MPEG function in the ThinkPad system. The following models are supported: - ThinkPad 770/770E/770ED/770X NOTE: These drivers should only be used if you are using the DVDExpress application to play DVD movies. If you are using the application SoftDVD to play DVD movies, DO NOT install these drivers. To determine whether you have to update the program, refer to "Summary of Changed and Fixed Items." To update the program, refer to the "Installation Guide." Released Version ---------------- Version 1.00 New model support 1.01 Fixes for some problems Summary of Change ----------------- Key: Diskette version (for example, 1.00 means Version 1.00) (New) New function or enhancement (Fix) Correction to existing function <1.00> - (New) Support for ThinkPad 770/770E/770ED/770X. <1.01> - (Fix) Compatibility problems with some titles. - (Fix) Problems after Fast Forward or Fast Rewind Installation Guide ------------------ Note: - Use this driver diskette only for the ThinkPad 770,770E,770ED,770X. - Before installing, make sure that you have installed the following software in the computer: - Video Features Diskette IV for Windows 98 - Audio Features Diskette for Windows 98 - DVD-Video Player for Windows 98 1 Please make sure that your system has the DVD and Enhanced Video Adapter installed in the system. 2 Click on Start, move the cursor to Settings, and click on Control Panel. 3 Double-click on System. 4 Double-click on the Device Manager tab. 5 If you are installing this program for the first time, double-click on Other devices and then PCI Multimedia Device. Otherwise, double-click on Sound, video and game controllers, and IBM DVD decoder card. 6 Click on the Driver tab. 7 Click on Update Driver... 8 Click on Next. 9 Select the "Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want" radio button, and click on Next. 10 Insert the MPEG Features Diskette for Windows 98 into the diskette drive. 11 If the device being installed is listed as a PCI multimedia device, select Sound, video and game controllers. Specify a location by pressing Have Disk... 12 Type A:\ and press OK. 13 Select IBM DVD decoder card, and click on Next. 14 Click on Next again in the window that shows the full path to DVD.inf. The computer starts to install the MPEG driver. Follow the instructions on the screen. 15 After completing the installation, click on Finish, Close, and OK to close the Device Manager window. 16 Restart the system.
