IBM Easy Backup and Restore software

README

This package will update the IBM Easy Backup and Restore software
that comes preinstalled in your IBM(R) computer. This package
will also install the full version of the the IBM Easy Backup and
Restore software on select models. This update requires
approximately 20MB of space on your hard disk (drive C), this
does not include the space required for your backup partition.

The IBM Backup and Restore program creates and stores a backup
image of the primary partition (drive C) of you hard disk drive.
You can then recover this backup image in the event that drive C
becomes damaged or unusable.

This update package is intended for IBM NetVista machine types
2251-xxx, 2271-xxx, 6830-xxx, 6831-xxx, 6838-xxx, 6840-xxx,
6841-xxx, and 6848-xxx that come with the IBM Easy Backup and
Restore software.

This update package is also intended for IBM IntelliStation M Pro
machine type 6849-xxx and IBM IntelliStation E Pro machine
types 6836-xxx and 6846-xxx that come with the IBM Easy Backup and
Restore software.

Print this file so that you can refer to it during the installation.


Downloading the update
----------------------
1. Click the file link to download the file from the Web page.
2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save
   the downloaded file.

Installing the update
---------------------
1.  Click Start.
2.  Click Find.
3.  Click Files or Folders.
4.  Type back4079.exe in the search box, then click Find Now.
    This will locate the back4079.exe file you just downloaded. 
5.  Double-click the icon for back4079.exe.
6.  Click Next.
7.  Read the license agreement.
8.  Click I accept the terms in the license agreement.
9.  Click Next.
10. Ensure that Save files in folder is set to
    C:\IBMTOOLS\Drivers\back4079.
11. Click Next.
12. Click OK. Wait for the message Update completed successfully.
13. Click OK.
14. Click Start.
15. Click Programs.
16. Click IBM backup and restore.
17. Click IBM backup and restore program.
18. Click Next.
19. Follow the onscreen instructions to create a startable
    diskette and to create a partition on your hard disk drive
    in which the backup image can be stored.
