Hitachi GD-7500 12X DVD-ROM drive firmware update version 0008 README This package performs a flash update of the firmware that controls the Hitachi 12X DVD-ROM which might have come preinstalled in your IBM(R) computer. A blank 1.44MB 3.5-inch diskette will be needed. NOTE: Firmware is programming that controls low-level hardware operations internal to the DVD-ROM. The firmware is stored on a chip. Your DVD-ROM uses flash ROM's, which can be updated through a program on a flash diskette so that you do not have to replace the firmware chip to update the firmware. Print this file so that you can refer to it during the installation.
