IBM EEPROM update utility for Intel(R) 8255x ethernet adapters Version 3.0 Installation Readme This package creates a bootable diskette that runs a utility that will determine if the Intel ethernet EEPROM in your system needs an update. The information provided will be valid only for onboard integrated Intel ethernet adapters with device ID 2449. This document refers to IBM NetVista 2273, 2292, 6043, 6343, 6349, 6350, 6790, 6791, 6792, 6793, 6794, 6795, 6823, and 6825 systems containing an Intel(R) 8255x onboard ethernet adapter. This update requires a blank 1.44MB floppy diskette. Print this file so that you can refer to it during the installation. Downloading the update ---------------------- 1. Click the file link to download the file from the Web page. 2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save the downloaded file, be sure to select a path that does not have a space in it's name. Extracting the update --------------------- Installing this update involves creating a utility diskette and running the utility program from the diskette. Before you begin, have a blank 1.44 MB diskette ready. 1. Click Start, select Find or Search, then click Files and Folders. 2. Insert a blank 1.44MB floppy diskette into the diskette drive. 3. Type pz1t14a.exe in the search field, then click Find Now. This will locate the pz1t14a.exe file you just downloaded. 4. Double-click the pz1t14a.exe icon. 5. Follow the onscreen prompts. The necessary files will be extracted to the diskette. Running the utility ------------------- 1. Close all open applications. 2. Leave the diskette in the A: drive, and shut down and restart the computer to start the utility program. 3. Once started the program will run and state status of update. 4. Wait until you see a message stating "Update finished successfully" or "No update necessary". 5. Once the message is received, please remove diskette from system and reboot.
