USB keyboard update for Microsoft Windows Me Installation README This package contains a registry update for the USB keyboard that comes with your IBM(R) computer. This update will allow the system to turn off the caps lock button of the keyboard when Windows Me is loaded. This update package is intended for IBM NetVista machine types 2254, 2256, 2257, 6336, 6337, 6339, 6341, 6342, 6346, 6347 and 6348 that come with a USB keyboard and have a non US Microsoft Windows Me operating system preinstalled. Print this file so that you can refer to it during the installation. Downloading the update ---------------------- 1. Click on the link to download the file from the Web page. 2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save the downloaded file. Installing the update --------------------- 1. Click Start, select Find, then click Files and folders. 2. Type pz2z22us.exe in the search field, then click Find Now. This will locate the pz2z22us.exe file you just downloaded. 3. Double-click the pz2z22us.exe icon. 4. Click Next. Read the license agreement. 5. Click I accept the terms in the license agreement. 6. Click Next. 7. Ensure that "Save files in folder" is set to C:\IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\PZ2Z22US. 8. Click Next. You will be asked if you want to add the information in CAPSLOCK.REG to the registry. 9. Click Yes. A window will pop up indicating that the information was successfully added to the registry. 10. Click OK. A DOS Prompt window will remain open showing the message "PLEASE REMOVE ANY DISKETTE FROM THE DRIVE cLOSE ALL PROGRAMS AND RESTART THE SYSTEM". 11. Remove any diskettes from the diskette drive, close the DOS Prompt window, then shutdown and restart the system. After the system restarts the caps lock key will be in its OFF position. Note: For people that have Windows configured to show a login window, They will not see the caps lock off until they actually login. This should not be a problem for them since login information is not case sensitive for Windows Me.
