5500ASPI.EXE is a DOS2000 bootable diskette image which includes DLTtools V4.14c program for IBM Onboard ServeRAID II Tape Drive Support Introduction: DLTtools is a program that gives the user the ability to manage internal working of the DLT tape drive. It is used to update drive firmware, run diagnostics, view or alter various log, mode and parameters of the SCSI based DLT Tape Drive. This version of DLTTools has been modified for use exclusively with IBM DLT Tape Drives and Tape Libraries used with DLT Tape Drives (e.g.3502, 3570). For the 3502 DLT Tape Library, remove any media from the 3502 DLT tape library prior to performing a firmware update. After downloading this diskette, make sure either you have the firmware image on diskette, or loaded on a MS-DOS FAT partition. 2. Ensure that all media has been removed from the tape drive or library prior to updating firmware. 3. Boot the diskette to the DLTtools disclaimer screen. 4. Press (ESC) to acknowledge terms of the use for the DLT Tools application. 5. If more than one controller is installed in the server, press the (TAB) key and select the correct controller. 6. Host adapter (0) should be already selected for the only supported, onboard ServeRAID II controller, so press the (TAB) key to highlight (OK) and then press the enter key. 7. Verify that you have selected the correct tape drive model by pressing the (TAB) key and using the up and down keys to highlight the drive and press enter to make the selection. 8. At the screen that states " Drive is protected! Turn off protection to perform operation " press the enter key. 9. Press (ALT (S) )and choose the option Device Protection. 10. Under the section Set Global Protection, press the (TAB) key, then press the spacebar to remove the (X) option for protection mode, then press the enter key. 11. Now remove this diskette from the server and insert the new image file firmware diskette if applicable. 12. Select Alt F 13. Select Update 14. Select Load Firmware 15. Select the firmware image file from either the diskette which should automatically see the image from the (A) drive, or selecting the MS-DOS FAT partition drive letter: (type the filename) and pressing the enter key twice. 16. Do not power off during the update process, as unrecoverable damage will be caused to the tape unit. 17. Press the enter key when update has completed, then insert the Netfinity 5500 Onboard ServeRAID II Bootable Diskette for DLT Tape Drives, and press (ALT (X)) to exit. 18. Remove the diskette and reboot the server...
