This file briefly describes the installation of the IBM International
PC Card Modem with GSM, US p/n 02K4280, in Microsoft Windows 2000. For
a complete list of supported modems see the end of this document.

Installation Instructions for Windows 2000
------------------------------------------

IBM does not provide any seperate Windows 2000 drivers for the
IBM International PC Card Modem with GSM. In order to install the
IBM International PC Card Modem with GSM in Windows 2000 do the
following:

1. Ensure that your laptop computer is turned off and that no
   PCMCIA device is plugged into any PCMCIA slot of your computer.
2. Turn your laptop computer back on and log on to the Windows 2000
   system as a local administrator.
3. Insert the IBM International PC Card Modem with GSM into any empty
   PCMCIA slot.
4. Windows 2000 will now detect the insertion of a new hardware device
   and will identify the IBM International PC Card Modem with GSM
   correctly.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions in order to complete the
   installation of the IBM International PC Card Modem with GSM in
   Windows 2000.
6. Once this is complete you can use your IBM International PC Card
   Modem with GSM straight away.

NOTE: Windows 2000 does not contain the country selection software
      that allows you to chose or modify the country settings for
      the IBM Intenrational PC Card Modem with GSM. In order to be
      able to do this you have to download and install the device
      drivers v3.03 that are also provided on this web page.
