The device drivers are compatible with the following operating systems: o IBM OS/2 Warp Version 3 and 4 (Merlin) ---- IMPORTANT ------------------------------------------------------- Before following the installation instructions in this file, be sure you have created the diskette (using the Ready-to-Configure CD or ServerGuide's Diskette Factory) for the device driver you are installing. The Crystal audio device drivers are provided on the Ready-to- Configure CD or the ServerGuide CDs that comes with your computer. Instructions for installing the device drivers are provided in this file. ---- IMPORTANT ------------------------------------------------------- If your computer has IBM-preinstalled software, the Crystal audio device driver for Windows NT 4.0 has already been installed on the hard disk of your computer. However, the information included in this file will be helpful if you ever need to reinstall or update the device drivers. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.1 Where to Obtain Device Driver Updates ------------------------------------------ To obtain Device Drivers go to www.pc.ibm.com/support. Click on "Server Support", Select your model and click "Downloadable Files". 2.0 Installing Audio Device Drivers ____________________________________ This section contains information about installing or removing audio device drivers OS/2 Warp/Merlin operating systems. Before following the installation instructions, be sure you have created the diskette (using the Ready-to-Configure CD or ServerGuide) for the audio device driver you are installing. See Your Ready-to-Configure CD flyer or ServerGuide documentation for instructions. 2.1 OS/2 Warp Audio Device Driver ---------------------------------- This section contains the instructions for the OS/2 Warp audio device driver. 2.1.1 Installing OS/2 Warp Version 3 Audio Device Driver --------------------------------------------------------- To install the OS/2 Warp Version 3 audio device driver: 1. From the OS/2 Desktop, double-click on the Multimedia folder. 2. From the Multimedia window, double-click on the Multimedia Application Install icon. 3. Insert the Crystal Audio Driver for OS/2 diskette into the diskette drive. 4. Select the source drive as the diskette drive the Crystal Audio Driver diskette is in. On most systems this would be Source Drive A: 5. The installation program will show: Crystal Audio (Pre-selected) IBM OPL-3 FM MIDI (Pre-selected) IBM MPU-401 (This feature may not be present) Accept these default settings and click on the INSTALL button. 6. From the Change CONFIG.SYS verification window, click YES. 7. Driver files will be copied to the hardfile. 8. From the Multimedia Installation window, verify that 1 device shows for Crystal Audio then click OK. 9. Verify that 1 device shows for IBM OPL3 FM MIDI Synthesis then click OK. 10. The remaining driver files will be copied to the hardfile. 11. From the CONFIG.SYS Changed window, click OK to continue. 12. From the Multimedia Installation Successful window, click OK then shutdown and restart your system to initialize the new multimedia driver installation. 2.1.2 Installing OS/2 Warp Version 4 (Merlin) Audio Device Driver ------------------------------------------------------------------ To install the OS/2 Warp Version 4 (Merlin) audio device driver: 1. From the OS/2 Desktop, double-click on the OS/2 System folder. 2. From the OS/2 System window, double-click on the System Setup icon. 3. From the System Setup window, double-click on the Install/Remove icon. 4. From the Install/Remove window, double-click on the Multimedia Application Install icon. 5. Insert the Crystal Audio Driver for OS/2 diskette into the diskette drive. 6. Select the source drive as the diskette drive the Crystal Audio Driver diskette is in. On most systems this would be Source Drive A: 7. The installation program will show: Crystal Audio (Pre-selected) IBM OPL-3 FM MIDI (Pre-selected) IBM MPU-401 (This feature may not be present) Accept these default settings and click on the INSTALL button. 8. From the Change CONFIG.SYS verification window, click YES. 9. From the Multimedia Installation window, verify that 1 device shows for Crystal Audio then click OK. 10. Verify that 1 device shows for IBM OPL3 FM MIDI Synthesis then click OK. 11. Driver files will be copied to the hardfile. 12. From the CONFIG.SYS Changed window, click OK to continue. 13. From the Multimedia Installation Successful window, click OK then shutdown and restart your system to initialize the new multimedia driver installation. 2.1.3 Removing OS/2 Warp Audio Device Driver --------------------------------------------- OS/2 Warp does not have an application that will remove the audio device driver files but this can be done by manually editing the CONFIG.SYS file. To uninstall the OS/2 Warp audio device driver: 1. Open the CONFIG.SYS file with a text editor program such as E. 2. Locate and delete the following entries: BASEDEV=CWCONFIG.SYS /P:534 /I:5 /D:1,1 /SB:220 /M:330 /FM:388 /J:NONE /CD:NONE DEVICE=C:\MMOS2\CWAUDIO.SYS /N:BSAUD1$ /X1:8 /X2:8 /L:8 /LCAPT:X1 DEVICE=C:\MMOS2\CWVAUDIO.SYS BSAUD1$ BASEDEV=TIMER0.SYS DEVICE=C:\MMOS2\OPL3.SYS /P:388 /N:OPL31$ WARNING!
