README TEMPLATE File Name: 19K8410.TXT IBM 16/4 Token-Ring PCI Adapter for OS/2 (NDIS) Version 2.02 Readme.txt This README file contains the latest information about installing the IBM 16/4 Token-Ring PCI Adapter for OS/2 (NDIS) Version 2.02. Refer to Token-Ring PCI Family Adapter User's Guide for complete installation Instructions. CONTENTS ________ 1.0 Installation Instructions 2.0 Directory Structure 3.0 Changes - Known Limitations 4.0 Trademarks and Notices 5.0 Disclaimer 1.0 Installation Instructions The downloadable file in this package is a self-extracting ZIP file containing the OS/2 Warp NDIS2 device driver ( IBMTRP.OS2 ) and its associated files 1. Download the self-extracting ZIP file os2ndisp.exe to the drive and directory of your choice. 2. Execute os2ndisp.exe from a command prompt to unzip the file. A path can be specified after the self-extracting zip file name in order to expand the zip file to a location other than the current directory (example: os2ndisp x:\ - where x is a drive letter). If a path is not specified, the self-extracting zip file will be unzipped into the current directory. Refer to the directory structure in the Additional Information section for details on the subdirectory structure the self-extracting zip file will create. 3. After unzipping the file, refer to the IBM Token-Ring PCI Family Adapter User's Guide on the CD-ROM that shipped with your adapter for complete instructions for installing the device driver. If you do not have a copy of the manual that shipped with your adapter, you can browse or print an on-line version of it. 2.0 Directory Structure See IBM Token-Ring Features for details. 2.1 Directory Structure for OS2NDISP.EXE Directory of X:\ IBMTRP DOC 1,725 08-11-98 3:48p IBMTRP.DOC LA1H MSG 20,657 08-11-98 4:08p LA1H.MSG LA1 MSG 3,624 08-11-98 4:08p LA1.MSG IBMTRP OS2 122,420 03-24-99 4:51p IBMTRP.OS2 IBMTRP NIF 14,888 08-28-98 12:48p IBMTRP.NIF 5 file(s) 163,314 bytes Total files listed: 5 file(s) 163,314 bytes 3.0 Change History o Fixes hang during initialization on 450 MHz and faster processors o Fixes hang during initialization when there is no PCI token-ring adapter in the machine o Contains the fix to allow Route Switching Client mode to operate correctly with the latest version of microcode for 8210 MSS 12/01/98 - Update to self-extracting package tool to allow a path name and give the user a prompt before expanding the file (No code updates). 3.1 Fixed open failures on high-speed processors also fixed problem where device driver would display error message: (LA10044)The NDIS 2.0 protocol manager could not be opened in an infinite loop if the protocol manager was inadvertently removed from the network configuration (by manually editing either PROTOCOL.INI or CONFIG.SYS). Fixed symptoms such as lost sessions and inability of drive mappings to complete if RcvBuffSize was set to a value much smaller than MaxTxFrameSize. Enhancements o Improved Route Switching support (added Peer and Auto modes) o Added support for Class of Service over IP o Added support for 100Mbps adapter 4.0 Trademarks and Notices Microsoft and Windows are trademarks or registered trademarks of Microsoft Corporation.
