These features include: * Configuring the DNS support of RSA * Configuration of the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) function of RSA * Configuration Options that support enabling and disabling of the DHCP client on RSA * Additional support of Greenwich Mean Time offset and Daylight Savings Time Adjustment * New Alert Configuration Options to configure RSA to forward events * RSA will accept hostnames or IP addresses for the SNMP server addresses * Provides restart of the ASM Processor independent of network configuration * Improved Service Processor and BIOS flashing o Limitations: When configuring an event forwarding entry that uses the Email over PPP strategy, the configuration information is not saved correctly. If you wish to implement this strategy, please configure it using the ASM Web Based Management option. - Integrated Install of UMSE Content o Symptoms: The Service Pack installs the UMSE related files where present. If you install any UMSE tools after the Service Pack has been applied, you must re-apply the SP. o UMSE uninstall To unintall UMSE after the Service Pack has been installed requires that the SP be removed. After the SP is removed, then uninstall UMSE and then re-install the SP. - Correction to IBM Director User's Guide o Symptoms: The IBM Director User's Guide on page 157 refers to full software distribution, which is a non supported function in UM Services version 2.2. o Change: Incorrect text... " The software distribution task enables you to distribute popular applications and install them on your network's native systems. Using the software distribution task, you can remotely install applications that use the popular InstallShield Installer. The user should use another mechanism to update the Operating System, such as running Windows Update on the local machine. - Service Processor Flashing o Change: Flashing of planar service processors through the agent and device driver has been disabled. It is still possible to flash the service processor using the Advanced System Management Life Cycle Tool via either the serial or RS485 connection. - SNMP Corrected information The text under SNMP Support reads: " UM Services forwards the SNMP traps only if the SNMP Agent is installed on the Client workstation. You can install and configure the SNMP Agent as part of the UM Services installation process or afterwards by using the Windows 95 CD, Windows 98 CD,Windows NT CD, Windows 2000 CD or Windows ME CD. " UM Services SNMP is not supported under Windows ME. Microsoft does not ship an SNMP agent on the Windows ME CD. - WinMe ThinkPad with USB Floppy hangs during startup o Symptoms: When UMS2.2 is installed on ThinkPad Windows Millennium machines with USB Floppy Drive, it hangs at every system boot. o Circumvention: Do not attach a USB floppy drive at boot time. 3.0 Installation and Setup Instructions ----------------------------------------- *NOTE: Administrator privilege is required to install this Service Pack. 3.1 This Service Pack is applicable with the following Director component levels: Director Server 2.2 Universal Manageability Services 2.2 Universal Manageability Services with Director Support 2.2 Universal Manageability Server Extensions 2.2 3.2 This Service Pack applies to the following operating systems: Windows 2000 Professional Windows 2000 Server and Advanced Server Windows NT 4.0 Server and Workstation Windows 98 (including Second Edition) Windows 95 OSR2 Linux OS/2 Netware 3.3 Primary installation method Before installation of the Service Pack, IBM Director 2.2 must be installed.
