Please refer to the section 4.0 of this document for instructions on how to stop the Netfinity Manager program. By following the installation instructions shown below, the correct System Management Device Driver will be automatically installed onto your Netfinity Server. If the installation is being done from this diskette, insert this diskette into the server's floppy diskette drive, bring up a command prompt window, screen, or session, and enter one of the following commands. The examples shown below assume the floppy drive is A:. If the installation is being done from the Advanced Systems Management Utilities CD-ROM, insert this CD-ROM into the server's CD-ROM drive, bring up a command prompt window, screen, or session, and enter one of the following commands. The examples shown below assume the CD-ROM drive is D:. For OS/2, type: A:\OS2\SETUP (if installation is from a diskette) or D:\DD\OS2\SETUP (if installation is from a CD-ROM) Follow the directions that appear on the screen For Windows 2000 running on xSeries 232 and 342 servers without the Remote Supervisor Adapter, or on xSeries 300 servers: * Insert the IBM Advanced System Management Device Driver diskette or the Advanced Systems Management Utilities CD-ROM into the server. * From the Start\Run window type: A:\NT\ASRSETUP if installing from a diskette, where A: is the floppy drive. or type: D:\DD\NT\ASRSETUP if installing from the Advanced Systems Management Utilities CD-ROM, where D: is CD-ROM drive. * Click the OK button to install the Automatic Server Restart driver. * Remove the diskette or CD and reboot the server to start the driver. For Windows 2000 running on any Netfinity or xSeries server with any of the following hardware: - Advanced System Management PCI Adapter card - Advanced System Management Processor, which is part of the planar board on specific models of Netfinity and IBM eServer xSeries servers - Automatic Server Restart (ASR) which is built onto the planar board of xSeries 220 servers - Remote Supervisor Adapter, which is an option on specific models of xSeries servers The Windows 2000 System Management Driver files are included on the ServerGuide installation CDs for Windows 2000 and will be installed automatically when Windows 2000 is installed. Installation from the install diskette will only be required if Windows 2000 is installed without using ServerGuide, or if the System Management Driver is manually uninstalled. NOTE: The following older servers require a certain level of system BIOS in order to run the Windows 2000 device drivers. Please be sure that the servers listed below have a BIOS level equal to or higher than what is shown in the table. Server model BIOS level Netfinity 5000: MOJT36A Netfinity 5500: KIJT73A Netfinity 5500 M10: KIJT73A Netfinity 5500 M20: KQJT19A If a BIOS update is required, use the latest BIOS image files and instructions for installation, which can be found at http://www.pc.ibm.com/support. For installation under Windows 2000, you can choose from one of the following four methods. 1 (Recommended) For a normal installation or upgrade of the drivers: * Open a Command prompt * If installing from a diskette, type: A:\WIN2000\SETUP * If installing from a CD-ROM, type: D:\DD\WIN2000\SETUP * Follow the directions that appear on the screen Note: If you want to use this installation method and the Hardware Wizard starts itself for the installation of any System Management Driver hardware, then exit the Hardware Wizard by selecting "Cancel". 2 The following set of instructions apply if you use the automatic initiation of the "Hardware Wizard" by Windows. * Click "Next" on the "Found New Hardware Wizard" screen. * The hardware will automatically be detected as an "Unknown" device for the Netfinity Advanced System Management Processor, or "Other PCI bridge device" for the Netfinity Advanced System Management PCI Adapter hardware. * Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device" and click "Next". * Insert the diskette or CD-ROM and check the appropriate medium (floppy / CD) on the screen.
