PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS: This tip applies to IBM PC Commercial Desktop systems that can be set to power off with the APM function. System BIOS does not inform the operating system that it is powering the system off. The operating system may not close all open files. This is neither a defect of the BIOS or the operating system. FIX: The customer must disable this function if they are using an operating system that must first be shutdown before the system is powered off.
