H164732: MULTIPLE FORE ATM ADAPTERS DO NOT WORK WITH NETWARE DRIVER SYMPTOM: When trying to load driver for second card (referred to as ATM slot = 1), get one (1) of the two (2) following messages: - Message 1: LOADING MODULE FORENP2E.LAN 4-16-98 2:11:49pm ATMTSM-1.8.6 ATM HSM FORENP2E HARDWARE REGISTRATION FAILED FORENP2E: atmtsm_hsm_Control error code -3 FORENP2E: Unable to map adapter RAM into NETWARE Server-4.11-1957 Attempt to reinitialize re-entrant module failed. - Message 2: Loading Module FOREFP2E.LAN Server-4.11-1957 Attempt to reinitialize re-entrant module FAILED. FOREMUX: FOREFP2E assigned unit number 1 FOREMUX: Unable to set hardware interrupt FOREFP2E: Unable to map adapter Ram into NetWare PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS: - The system is a Netfinity 7000 M10 server, Type 8680, all models. - The system is running Novell NetWare 4.11 - The system has two (2) ForeSystems ATM adapters installed. - The system complies with the symptom listed in the above "Symptoms" section. FIX: Dual "Fore" adapters work with the FAT drivers (forefp2e.lan, 2/12/98) when the PCI IRQ settings are adjusted so that the two (2) Fore cards are not sharing an interrupt with anything else. This means assigning everything else to one IRQ. Note: Only 9, 10, and 11 are available to reassign. Also, when using ServeRAID and the Adaptec devices, the newer .ham drivers are more compatible than the older .dsk drivers, when using ForeSystems adapters. DETAILS: NetWare 5 will supposedly eliminate this problem. TRADEMARKS: Other company, product and service names may be the trademarks or service marks of others. DATE: September 22, 1998
