PC Server 325/330 experiences a "system halt" failure when Novell NetWare 4.11 or Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 are loaded with the SCSI CD-ROM unit disconnected from the on-board ServeRAID/Adaptec SCSI controller and connected to an attached Adaptec AAA-131 Raid SCSI controller. PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS: - The system is one of the following IBM servers: a PC Server 325, Type 8639, Model: PTW, PB0, RB0, PT0, 1RY or 2RY. a PC Server 330, Type 8640, Model: PT0, PB0, PM0, 11Y or 21Y. - The system is configured with an Adaptec AAA-131 RAID SCSI controller. - The system's SCSI CD-ROM is connected to the Adaptec AAA-131 RAID SCSI controller. - One of the following Network Operating Systems is being installed on the server: Novell NetWare 4.11 Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 - The system has the described symptom. FIX: Do not connect the SCSI CD-ROM to the Adaptec AAA-131 RAID SCSI controller. Connect the SCSI CD-ROM to the on-board ServeRAID or on-board Adaptec controller as it shipped from the factory.
