Flash BIOS update - Flash from Operating System version for ThinkCentre(R) 8099, 8110, 8112, 8113, 8114, 8115, 8116, 8153, 8155, 8156, 8157, 8158, 8159, 8160, 8166, 8167, 8168, 8169, 8170, 8215, 9210, 9211 Version 2EKT31A Installation README This package updates the basic input/output system (BIOS) on ThinkCentre 8099, 8110, 8112, 8113, 8114, 8115, 8116, 8153, 8155, 8156, 8157, 8158, 8159, 8160, 8166, 8167, 8168, 8169, 8170, 8215, 9210, and 9211 systems. BIOS is programming that controls low-level hardware operations, including interactions with diskette drives, hard disk drives, and the keyboard. The BIOS is stored on a chip. Your computer uses flash BIOS, which can be updated through a program on a flash diskette so that you do not have to replace the BIOS chip to update the BIOS. Note: Make note of any settings you have changed in the BIOS Configuration Utility. These settings may have to be re-entered after updating the BIOS. Print this file so that you can refer to it during the installation. Downloading the update ---------------------- 1. Click the file link to download the file from the web page. 2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save the downloaded file. Extracting the update --------------------- 1. Click Start, select Find or Search, then click Files and Folders. 2. Type 2ejy31usa.exe in the search field, then click Find Now. This will locate the file you just downloaded. 3. Double-click the 2ejy31usa.exe icon. 4. Read the license agreement 5. Click I accept the terms in the license agreement. 6. Click Next. 7. Ensure that "Save files in folder" is set to C:\IBMTOOLS\FLASH\2EJY31US. 8. Click Next. 9. Click Finish. Installing the update --------------------- 1. Close all open applications. 2. Click Start, then click Run. 3. Type C:\IBMTOOLS\FLASH\2EJY31US\WINPHLASH.EXE. 4. Click OK. 5. Select Backup BIOS and Flash BIOS with new settings. 6. Click Flash BIOS. You will told to save your work and close all other applications. 7. Click OK. Your system will automatically shutdown and restart so that the changes will take effect. Sometimes the string was not being displayed. 2EKT24A/2EJT24A - Adds support for Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) - Adds in ICH7 BSU #1.00 change (USB init) - Fixes a problem where the system will D2 hang at TP 55h with USB mass storage and more than 2GB of RAM - Adds code so that when a hard disk password is set, this password must be entered before any operating system is booted - Replaces the IBM logo wih the Lenovo logo - Fixes a problem where a hard drive cannot be found while getting into the operating system. Actually, the hard drive is not detected in POST after a power loss. - Fixes a problem where a Fingerprint keyboard gives multiple beeps - Adds text translations in BIOS setup that were previously only in English 2EKT23A/2EJT23A - Updates the video BIOS to fix a problem where there is no output to the screen from an ADD2-R adapter 2EKT18A/2EJT18A - 2EKT22A/2EJT22A - The BIOS releases were internal releases for testing.
