Installation Readme


This firmware update was created to fix problems installing Windows Vista and
recognizing CDs and DVDs using Vista in a ThinkCentre M55 Ultra-Small Form
Factor system. 


Supported systems
=================
This package applies to the following systems configured with the HLDS GMA-4082N
slim multi-burner drive:

- ThinkCentre M55 (type 8009, 8791, 8795, 8799, 8803, 8807, 8812)

Note:  THis update does not apply for the ThinkPad version of GMA-4082N.


Downloading the package
=======================
1. Click the file link to download the file from the Web page.
2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save
   the downloaded file.


Extracting the package
======================
1.  Click Start, then click Start Search.
2.  Type hldsgma4082n_hy02.exe in the search field, then click Search
    Everywhere. This will locate the file you just downloaded.
3.  Double-click the hldsgma4082n_hy02.exe icon. You may see a dialog
    stating "A program needs your permission to continue". If you
    see this dialog, click Continue.
4.  Click Next.
5.  Click I accept the terms in the license agreement.
6.  Click Next.
7.  Ensure that "Save files in folder" is set to
    C:\SWTOOLS\FIRMWARE\HLDS\GMA-4082N.
8.  Click Next. The necessary files will be extracted to your hard drive.
9.  Click Finish.


Applying the package
====================
Note: This firmware upgrade requires the system to be restarted.  Exit all
applications and save your data before running the upgrade. Do not restart
or power-down the system while the upgrade is in progress.
  
1.  Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, then click Run.
2.  Type C:\SWTOOLS\FIRMWARE\HLDS\GMA-4082N\GMA4082HY02.exe, then click OK.
    You will receive the prompt "The firmware of this drive will be updated
    to a new version".
3.  Click Update. When complete, the utility will display the message,
    "Updating was completed successfully. Please reboot the PC".
4.  Click Reboot.
5.  The new firmware will be applied after the system is restarted.
