EEPROM update for Intel 10/100/1000 (Gigabit) Ethernet adapters
Installation README


This package updates the basic Gigabit Network Adapter EEPROM on IBM
ThinkCentre 8128, 8185, 8186, 8187, 8188, 8189, 8190, 8413, 8414,
8415, 8192, 8193, 8194, 8195, 8196, 8197, 8198, 8432, 8433 systems.

On a server-client setup if the machine type specified above is
configured with a motherboard with a gigabit network adapter, a WOL
packet sent from the server will fail to wake the client. In
addition none of the RJ45 connector Link, Activity, and Speed
indicator LEDs will toggle when the system is either fully on and
running or turned off. This problem is geographically limited to
Latin America counties only.

Print this file so that you can refer to it during the installation.


Downloading the update
----------------------
1. Click the file link to download the file from the web page.
2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save the
   downloaded file, be sure to select a path that does not have a space
   in its name.


Extracting the update
---------------------
Installing this update involves creating a Boot flash diskette and
running the flash program from the diskette. Before you begin, have a
blank 1.44 MB diskette ready.

1. Click Start, select Find or Search, then click Files and Folders.
2. Insert a blank 1.44MB floppy diskette into the diskette drive.
3. Type pz1t23a.exe in the search field, then click Find Now. This will
   locate the file you just downloaded.
4. Double-click the pz1t23a.exe icon.
5. Follow the onscreen prompts. The necessary files will be extracted
   to the diskette.


Installing the update
---------------------
1.  Close all open applications.
2.  Leave the diskette in the A: drive, and shut down and restart the
    computer to start the flash program.
3.  When you are prompted, press any key to continue. This utility will
    only update the flash image on the EEPROM only if the image is
    corrupted or needs an updated. This update utility will only work
    if a gigabit network adapter is detected.
4.  Remove the diskette from the diskette drive.
5.  Press Ctrl+Alt+Enter to restart the system.
