Installation Readme


This package installs an updated version of the Microsoft Windows
Me, 2000, and XP device driver for the Realtek RTL8100C Ethernet
that comes preinstalled in your computer.

This package applies to the following systems configured with the
Realtek RTL8100C chip:

- 3000 J100 (type 8252, 8253, 8254, 8255, 8256, 8453, 8454, 8455,
  8456, 8457)
- ThinkCentre E50 (type 8469, 8472, 8473, 8474, 8771, 8772, 8773,
  8774, 8776, 8777, 8778, 8779, 8708, 8709, 8710, 8711, 8719, 8817,
  8818, 8819)

This update requires approximately 7MB of space on your hard drive.

Print this file so that you can refer to it during the installation.


Downloading the package
-----------------------
1. Click the file link to download the file from the Web page.
2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save
   the downloaded file.


Extracting the package
----------------------
1.  Click Start, select Find or Search, then click Files and folders.
2.  Type q4etn02us13.exe in the search field, then click Find Now or
    Search. This will locate the file you just downloaded. 
3.  Double-click the q4etn02us13.exe icon.
4.  Click Next. Read the license agreement.
5.  Click I accept the terms in the license agreement.
6.  Click Next.
7.  Ensure that "Save files in folder" is set to
    C:\IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\q4etn02us13.
8.  Click Next. The necessary files will be extracted to your hard
    drive.
9.  Click Finish.


Installing the package
----------------------
1.  If the Operating System's Found New Hardware Wizard prompts you
    that "New Hardware Found" for the "Ethernet Controller", you
    should click "Next" until "Finish" is clicked and without
    specifying location of the driver. You will see the "Ethernet
    Controller" in the Device Manager.
2.  Click Start, then click Run.
3.  Type C:\IBMTOOLS\DRIVERS\q4etn02us13\Setup.exe, then click OK.
    The setup program will run. Follow all onscreen prompts and
    reboot your system when done.


Silent installation
-------------------
setup -s: The InstallShield will complete the installation or
          upgrade without prompting you any instruction.
