Media Access Control Address (MAC Address) update utility
for Intel 10/100/1000 (Gigabit) Ethernet Controller
Installation README


This package updates the network MAC address on the Network Adapter 
EEPROM on the following systems:

- ThinkCentre A50 (type 8089, 8090)
- ThinkCentre S50 (type 8086, 8087, 8088, 8094)


State failure mode
------------------
No known failures have been reported due to duplicate MAC addresses 
but users on the same DHCP server with duplicate addresses may
experience general network connectivity related issues.

Duplicate MAC addresses may appear on a network if one of the systems 
listed below are on the same network as one of the above listed
ThinkCentre A50 or S50 systems. No update is necessary for the following
machine types:

- ThinkCentre M51 (type 8141, 8142, 8143, 8144, 8145, 8146)
- Thinkpad X30/X31/X32 (type 2672, 2673, 2884, 2885, 2890, 2891)
- Thinkpad T30 (type 2366, 2367)
- Thinkpad T40p/T41p/T42p (type 2373, 2374, 2375, 2376, 2378, 2379)
- Thinkpad T43 (type 1871, 1872, 1873, 1874, 1875, 1876)
- Thinkpad T43p (type 2668, 2669, 2686, 2687)
- Thinkpad R50p/R51 (type 1829, 1830, 1831, 1832, 1833, 1836, 1840, 1841)
- Thinkpad R52 (type 1846, 1847, 1848, 1849, 1850, 1870)

Print this file so that you can refer to it during the installation.


Downloading the update
----------------------
1. Click the file link to download the file from the Web page.
2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save the
   downloaded file, be sure to select a path that does not have a space
   in its name.


Extracting the update
---------------------
Installing this update involves creating a bootable flash diskette and
running the flash program from the diskette. Before you begin, have a
blank 1.44 MB diskette ready.

1. Click Start, select Find or Search, then click Files and Folders.
2. Insert a blank 1.44MB floppy diskette into the diskette drive.
3. Type pz1t25a.exe in the search field, then click Find Now. This will
   locate the file you just downloaded.
4. Double-click the pz1t25a.exe icon.
5. Follow the onscreen prompts. The necessary files will be extracted
   to the diskette.


Installing the update
---------------------
1.  Close all open applications.
2.  Leave the diskette in the A: drive, and shut down and restart the
    computer to start the flash program.
3.  The update process will start automatically. This utility will
    only update the MAC address only if the machine type matches one of 
    the machine types listed above and the MAC address needs to be 
    updated.
4.  After update process displays “Adapter updated successfully” remove 
    the diskette from the drive.         
5.  Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to restart the system.
